When a decision must be made, especially one involving the risk of conflict (abhorrent to ESFJs), there ensues an in-house wrestling match between the aforementioned black-and-white Values and the Nemesis of Discord. The contender pits self against self, once firmly deciding with the Right, then switching to Prudence to forestall hostilities, countered by unswerving Values, ad exhaustium, winner take all.

country fest

I must admit, the thought of people in Boston going all out for country fest kind of made me laugh…but the people up here did pretty well at supporting Zac Brown Band and Kenny Chesny. I was thoroughly impressed. 60,000 fans filled Gilette Stadium, (night 2) tailgated all day…and all in defiance of Hurricane Irene. We toughed out the rain, and Kenny and Zac jammed out for us in the end, doing some off the cuff performances of Baby Got Back, Dixieland Delight and Tom Petty. Priceless. The only thing that was lacking was a swing dance partner…that was one thing that Boston just didn’t have.

new theme

I think I spend more time trying to figure out the theme of my blog, than actually putting any thought to it. and the thing is, who really looks at the theme, i think it’s the actual content that makes people come back…hah so maybe i should work on that. on that note, i can’t believe over a year has passed since I moved to Boston. holy cow. more updates with actual readable content to come…i promise.

end of summer bbq

last night I went to my favorite place in all of Boston for an end of summer bbq. the one and only Eastern Standard hosted an amazing spread on the patio..full of family style sharing and big plates. i must say, i’ve never felt quite at home in the north. a stuffed whole cooked pig with sausage, mac and cheese, baked beans, corn on the cob, heirloom tomato salad, biscuits and potato salad rounded out one of the best meals i’ve eaten in quite some time. not to mention i had some very lovely company. i love how the south warms the hearts (and stomachs) of everyone around :)

life update

i’m so so behind on my blog that i’ve decided to just briefly update and then continue on!

I’ve been traveling…a lot. Since May I’ve been to San Francisco twice, San Diego, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Napa, Palm Beach, Jersey and Chicago.. twice. Oh and Georgia. Phew.
It’s wedding season! So excited for all of my friends getting married and so pumped to be able to attend and be in some!
I’ve been exploring a lot of great new restaurants (will update with pics later!)
I’m finally taking vacation next week! I. cannot. wait.
I just had a colonoscopy and endoscopy…update later. Not fun.
Spotify and Google+ are legit. Join them.
Boston in the summer is so lovely. I wish I could move this city to a warmer location year round :)

My friends and family are the best, and super supportive.
I’m still a fan of lists!

Phoenix Fun

I’m out in Phoenix for business so I knew I had to try out one of Phoenix’s hot spots. The problem with that was….what was a hotspot restaurant in Phoenix. After yielding negative results doing web searches I turned my attention the Travel Channel. Problem Solved.

The cute and unassuming Barrio Cafe provided an authentic twist on mexican cuisine. Guacamole made at your table with a fresh surprise of pomegranate seeds started the night off well. Coke out of the bottle made with real sugar complemented the Pollo Pablano’s sweet yet spicy tomatillo sauce. I could go on and on about this wonderful place, but I’ve got to run back to the airport! Regardless…if you’re in Phoenix, you must go here! Perrrffeect dining experience!

Iced Tall Skinny Caramel Macchiato

This little drink has transitioned from winter to spring…from the warm caramel macchiato to the cool iced version, it has sustained my non-coffee drinking self. Just like being a regular at a restaurant, having a signature Starbucks drink is a must, it makes you feel somewhat at home in a rather chain corporate coffee shop. Another plus, drinking it with a view of the Boston Commons and Gardens…ah it never gets old. Now, if only the weather could catch up…55 in May puhlease.

Today might have been one of the best birthday’s I’ve had in a long, long time… These are some of the great things that made my day special

1. Walking into work and finding my desk decorated in crazy pictures, with a beautiful handmade card (along with the best necklace), flowers and balloons!!!!

2. Getting flowers delivered to me at work

3. My podmate going out and getting me a GRANDE caramel light frappaccino..because you get to splurge on your birthday :) ( so I had a coke and sbux in the same day! )

4. Coming home to to 5 packages/pieces of mail (I could barely contain my excitement)…including a card from my dog, a calla lily from my sister and sweet notes from my family.

5. All of the wonderful texts, calls and facebook messages from my friends all over

6. Homemade cupcakes with a candle on top

Today was so great not because of all of the things on this list…but because of the people behind them. I have been so blessed with all of the people in my life…and I can’t thank y’all enough. This was a birthday to remember.

Here’s to another year…bring on the good times!

Valentine’s Day

Even the cynics secretly love Valentine’s Day, and as I’m surrounded by three sets of couples on the bus back to BOS from NY (canoodling away, lost in each other’s eyes) I still love this day. So here are 14 things/statements about my love for this day.

1. Even though I’m single (yet again) Valetine’s Day still holds a warm place in my heart.

2. This is my favorite consumer holiday…pink, red, white, glitter, sparkles, hearts, best window decorations, cupcakes, candy, ah love it.

3. This year I indulged in my creative side and made homemade Valentine’s. It was a) fun b) stress reliever c) made me super happy .

4. I bought Valentine’s Day Nerds to give away and have so far eaten 10 mini boxes or so…

5. I’ve had one real Valentine’s Day, and it lived up to every expectation the movies make it out to be.

6. I’m a hopeless romantic and until Midnite tonight will still hold out a tiny sliver of hope that someone will make a grandiose gesture and knock me off my feet. (this could be some random boy on the T that catches my eye, or even Prince Charming himself..I’m sure Cinderella wouldn’t mind. )

7. As much as I love the consumer products/marketing of Valentine’s, hand written, homemade cards are the best.

8. A hand-written letter and my favorite flowers would make my day.

9. When the mail cart comes around our floor at work, I again secretly hold out work someone has sent me something.

10. What better day than to give yourself a free pass to be super girly (if you are single) and divulge in chocolates, cupcakes, and chick-flicks?

11. When I was in elementary school, Valentine’s Day class parties were my favorite. I loved decorating my paper bag that would house the Valentine’s. I always read each one, even if they were duplicates. (thanks Target)

12. The best store-bought Valentine’s are the Fun-Dip ones. Let’s face it, it’s called Fun Dip for a reason.

13. I don’t have to make up an excuse for my overly sentimental sappy self…because even the haters feel the love today.

14. I’ve definitely listened to the Valentine’s Day stations on Pandora…secret guilty pleasure.

So go ahead, eat the extra chocolate, cry to sad songs and indulge in love.
